Our Ethos
We want you to use Rambler goods for a lifetime, with the intention to create less waste.
Our ethos is rooted in one that appreciates the time it takes to craft high quality goods.
We want to move away from the current capitalist marketing of keeping customers wrapped up in falsely created need, scarcity, and immediate gratification.
If you buy one of our products, we hope that you never need to replace that product! There are no subscriptions or up-selling - we want you to outright own these items.
We want you to be proud of your possessions, and for that excitement to translate into taking good care of them. Then when the decades pass and the time comes, they can be passed on to the next generation of folks to enjoy.
About the maker
Background
Rambler Goods is owned and operated by Drew out of a small workshop on STOLȻEȽ (San Juan Island) in the Salish Sea, as close as you can get to Canada without being in it. Originally born and raised on the mainland, Drew spent his childhood summers in the islands and knew he wanted to make a life up here. In 2024 Drew and his wife moved to the islands, fulfilling their lifelong dream!
Drew is a meticulous craftsman with a deep respect for well-built gear. His journey into leatherwork began in 2017 while living in Boulder, CO and attending university. He cut his teeth at a high-quality boot company tucked into the Rocky Mountains, where he was taught about traditional cordwaining and cobbling - building boots from new leather and repairing existing boots. In 2019, he returned to the Pacific Northwest with the company, furthering his skills while diving into all facets of helping run a business. By 2021, Drew shifted his focus from boots to a broader range of leather and canvas goods, working in a respected Seattle leather shop where he refined his ability to design and build durable, everyday pieces. With over six years of experience, he takes pride in making gear that’s built to last.
At the end of 2023 Drew decided to take the leap and build his own company as they planned to make a life in the islands. The support and excitement has been unmatched. Thank you all!
Drew comes from a long line of workers and makers - his paternal grandparents were knife makers, and his maternal grandparents were farmers and sign painters. Through his leather craft Drew feels connected to the generations before him who took pride in their careful craftsmanship.
Beyond the Workshop
Drew doesn’t sit still for long. When he’s not cutting and stitching leather, he’s working full-time in the GIS world, where he gets to combine his love for data and design by making maps. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter and first responder, dedicating his time to protecting and supporting his small community—something he values just as much as his craft.
Outside of work, he spends his time out in the woods, gardening, cooking, or wrangling his two dogs. Lately, he’s been diving into wool felting, mending, and knitting. Someday Drew hopes to incorporate those mediums into future projects!
Rambler Goods is a proudly Queer owned company.
Thank you for your support of a small business!
